Benefits
BENEFITS OF BECOMING A CHAMBER MEMBER
The Northern Gateway Regional Chamber of Commerce provides several benefits to local business owners – exclusive benefits that you cannot receive unless you are a member. You can easily recoup your membership dues by taking advantage of these benefits.
• Referrals: When people call the Chamber office looking for information about types of businesses (dining, lodging, banking or insurance services, auto dealers, etc.), we naturally refer our members.
• Business Open House: Our members know that holding an open house is an effective and inexpensive way to network with other business owners and get the word out to the public about their business. The Chamber can support your open house by providing a set of labels for the membership at no extra charge.
• Business Expo: In 2006 we had our 4th and best ever Small Business Expo. Chamber members can exhibit at a discounted rate. Furthermore, the entry fee is nominal not what you are used to with other local business expos!
• Bulk Mailing Permit: If you have a mailing over 200 pieces in size, you can take advantage of the Chamber’s Bulk Mailing Permit, and cut the cost of your mailing drastically. There is no charge to you for this service.
• Gateway Publication: While not strictly an exclusive benefit (non-member businesses can advertise in this publication), only Chamber Members receive a discount on advertising in this publication. This publication is distributed throughout the country. In addition, we send out hundreds from the Chamber office to people looking for information about the area for an upcoming visit or vacation. This year we published 60,000 magazines. We also upload the magazine onto our website, which averages over 70,000 hits per year.
• Relocation Guide: While the Gateway’s intended audience is tourists and visitors, the Relocation Guide is intended for those moving to the area. As a member, you receive a free listing in the Guide in the Business Directory. Nonmembers are not listed. In addition, for a small fee (to cover production and printing), you can place an ad in the guide promoting your business. People will already be familiar with your business name when they move to town, increasing the odds that they select you to do business with! Again, only chamber members may advertise in this publication.
• Newsletter: The newsletter contains information about chamber events as well as news items about our members and other topics of interest. In addition, we encourage our members to submit flyers for insertion in the newsletter to promote their business. There is no extra charge for this service. The newsletter is published every two months.
• Website: The Chamber website is www.northerngatewaychamber.org. Tourists, residents, and those relocating to the area visit our website. Part of the design includes using the website as a portal to our member businesses – another members-only benefit. You can link to your website, or we will build a one-page webpage for your business (ask about our fees).
• Welcome Center Brochures: The new Great North Woods Welcome Center has space available for your brochures. Chamber members enjoy a discount on this space.
• A Collective Voice: When businesses band together they have a stronger voice in public and legislative matters than if they voice their views singly. The Board of Directors of the Northern Gateway Regional Chamber of Commerce is concerned about issues that affect businesses. We will make you aware of these in the monthly newsletter and through meetings. We work with other organizations to ensure that the small business owner’s voice is heard.
• Combining Resources: By combining the dues of our member businesses, we are able to promote and advertise both our area and our member businesses. For example, we advertise in the State of NH’s major tourist publications, successfully increasing our exposure to tourists and would-be visitors. We have created a display in the heavily visited Lincoln Welcome Center that portrays our area and encourages visitors to travel a few more miles north to our area.
• Credibility: There is a certain unspoken, but acknowledged, credibility that comes with being associated with the Chamber.
